Teachers may use this guide as a resource to respond to children’s interests and curiosity as they explore vertebrates: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
Teacher's Guide
This guide covers topics such as animal babies and animal communication, defenses, movement, and homes and habitats. Through planned explorations, teachers will engage children in the process of scientific inquiry. To guide these explorations, teachers will find suggested activities, along with related vocabulary and recommended books and materials for each topic.
Recommended Materials
Teachers will find a list of equipment, supplies, and books to facilitate children’s science explorations of vertebrates. The list is divided into basic equipment and materials to support an exploration of each of the different vertebrates discussed in the teacher’s guide: birds, reptiles, frogs, fish, and mammals.
