"The Head Start program is remarkable in the services it provides and I am honored to work alongside the staff." Tom Sauro, CHT, has been a member of the Sault Tribe Head Start Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) since 1994.
It has truly been a rewarding experience to work with the Sault Tribe Head Start children over the years. I have obtained certifications through the state of Michigan to enhance my knowledge and competency to perform vision and hearing screening on our Native children.
Through the years, we have helped diagnose many children and we were able to assist them in obtaining eye glasses and hearing aids.
The Head Start program is remarkable in the services it provides and I am honored to work alongside the staff. I look forward to the continued partnership with the Sault Tribe Head Start staff, Anne Suggitt, and the children in the program. Together, we make a difference!
"They (the Head Start staff members) have all made such a difference in these kids' lives. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!" Bruce Anderson, DDS, MAGD, works with the Sault Tribe Head Start HSAC.
It has been such a pleasure to work with the health advisory group for Head Start with the Sault Tribe, Sault Ste. in Marie, MI and St. Ignace, MI, for many years. I have looked forward to the meetings with Anne Suggitt and all her staff through the years. They really meet the challenges of running a great program such as theirs.
My mom was an elementary school teacher and her schools had Head Start, FollowThrough, and other programs like that, and so from an early age I gained an appreciation for them. Anne and her staff have set the standard for Head Start, in my opinion, and I have always enjoyed working with them. It brings me great joy when the Head Start classes rotate through our clinic to get their rides in the dental chair, drinks of water, and prizes for visiting. They have all made such a difference in these kids' lives. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!
