Home Visitor
Speaker 1: Using the data where it's very easy to track a family's involvement, we can pull it up by child or class or, you know, all different ways so we can see, you know, "This family, they've come to every group socialization that we've had. But then this family has never been to one."
So, it gives you a chance to look at, you know, what can we do to get this family that's never been to a group socialization to come. And it allows you to pinpoint the people that -- the families that aren't participating as much as others. And get it right away as opposed to having to count to paper file or, you know, look back at a lot of stuff. It's all right there in front of you. It takes, you know, 30 seconds to pull it up and the information's right there.
So, you can -- you can plan weekly as opposed to getting, you know, three months into the program and thinking, "Wait, I think I haven't seen that family as often," and having to go back and look all through.
Every single week you can keep on top of, you know, this, "I didn't see these people two weeks in a row, I better add an extra visit," or that kind of thing. So I think it's just -- it makes it much faster to get the information that you really need to plan. The data system has really increased communication because you can -- we can all sit at our centers and look at, you know, if we share a child, we can all look at what the other people have done.
So, if I call one of the coordinators and say, "You know, the attendance for the child hasn't been very good and the family keeps not showing up," the coordinator already saw that from her desk and you know, may have already been thinking about, "Hmm, what should we do about this family?" Or a family worker might be inputting information during their home visits for one child and I'm doing home visits for another child in the family, and we can see each other's notes in there and know that, you know what, this is a big issue that we need to address, but, "I see that Rachel addressed it last time she was there and this is how she addressed it and the way she left it, so rather than repeating what she did I can pick up where she left off," and vice versa.
So, I think that's very helpful in the communication rather than, you know, calling each other or trying to, you know, catch somebody in the office. It's, it's all right there on the screen for us to read back and forth.
